Karnataka School Quality Assessment and Accreditation Council (KSQAAC) has released the registration process for National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS 2023) for class 8 students. The registration process for Karnataka NMMS Scholarship 2023 started on 13th September and the last date to submit the application form is 4th October. Interested and eligible candidates can appear online through the official website kseab.karnataka.gov.in.
NMMS Exam 2023-2024 will be conducted on December 17, 2023. Paper 1 Mental Aptitude Test (MAT) will be conducted from 10:30 am to 12 noon and Paper 2 Academic Aptitude Test will be conducted from 2 pm to 3:30 pm. In this, students who are leaving their studies due to their poor financial condition get a reward in the form of a scholarship to complete higher education.
School Principals and Headmasters can submit the application form of eligible students on Karnataka NMMS 2023 Scholarship on the official website kseeb.karnataka.gov.in till 4th October. Karnataka NMMS Scholarship 2023 is a state level scholarship for class 8 students studying in government, government-aided and local body schools of Karnataka. Scholarships are awarded to students who have demonstrated academic excellence and financial need. Candidates applying for this scholarship must have obtained at least 55% or equivalent grades in class 7.

Karnataka NMMS 2023 Registration
- Go to the official website kseeb.karnataka.gov.in/NTSENMMS Click on the ‘Login’ link.
- After this enter the default username and password and generate the password.
- Now login to your account using your registration number and password.
- Fill the required details in it and upload your passport size photo and save it.
- A printout of the application should be taken along with the certificate from the Head of the School/Institute (HOI).
- The HOI certificate must be signed with an official seal and the signed certificate must be uploaded to his/her account along with a scanned copy of (i) Income Certificate of the parents (ii) First page of the bank passbook (iii) .
- Then press the ‘Finalize Application’ button.
Karnataka NMMS 2023 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates studying in 8th class in government, aided and local body schools can apply for NMMS exam. Students from residential schools may not be eligible to apply for NMMS examination. The eligibility criteria of NMMS candidate depends on two main things one is the percentage of marks of the student and second is the income of the candidate’s parents.
- Students of any government aided residential school are also not eligible to apply for this examination. The students of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Sainik School are also not eligible for this examination.
- Students who have completed 8th class education can apply for NMMS Karnataka 2023-23.
- To apply for the scheme, it is necessary to have minimum 55% marks in class 8. Students belonging to general category family must have obtained minimum 55% marks.
- A student wishing to apply for NMMS should not be a repeater of Class 8.
- If the student belongs to Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe categories then they need to pass the examination with minimum 50% marks
- Candidates whose household family income is less than Rs. 1,50,000/- per year can apply for NMMS Karnataka 2023-23.
Karnataka NMMS 2023 Exam Pattern
NMMS is a central government scholarship scheme. However, its selection test is conducted by each state/union territory for its respective students. These tests include a mental ability test and an educational aptitude test whose guidelines are prescribed by NCERT.
- The exam will be conducted in two parts: Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT).
- Each paper will have 90 multiple choice questions (MCQs).
- The duration of each paper will be 90 minutes.
- There is going to be no negative marking in the exam.
- The minimum qualifying marks for each paper is 40% for general category and 32% for reserved category.

Mental Ability Test (MAT)
This test is meant to test the reasoning ability and critical thinking of the students through 90 multiple choice questions.
Most of the questions can be based on topics like analogy, classification, numerical series, pattern perception, hidden figures etc. which are given below.

Karnataka NMMS Scholarship 2023
NMMS distributes a total of 100,000 scholarships every year to selected students at the rate of Rs 12,000 per year i.e. Rs 1,000 per month. If the students pass the examination then the selected students are given a reward of Rs 12,000 (twelve thousand rupees) per year.
Under the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship, the scholarship amount is paid in one go by the State Bank of India (SBI). This Karnataka NMMS Scholarship 2023 is transferred directly to the accounts of the students through the Public Financial Management System (PFMS). The number of scholarships allotted to each state and union territory is based on the enrollment of students in classes 7 and 8 and their population in the respective states.
