Preliminary Examination (Objective): It is a qualifying examination consisting of two papers of 200 marks. The first paper is General Studies Paper-I, which tests the candidate’s knowledge of general subjects like History, Geography, Politics, Economics and Science.
The second paper is Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) which tests the logical reasoning, analytical ability and problem solving skills of the candidate.
Main Examination (Written): This is a more comprehensive examination consisting of nine papers of 250 marks each. The papers are divided into two groups:
- Group I: General Studies Paper-II, General Studies Paper-III, and General Studies Paper-IV
- Group II: Optional Subject (Choose any two)
Interview (Personality Test): It is a subjective test which evaluates the personality, character and suitability of the candidate for a career in civil services. Total Marks are 100.
