University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) is a national level examination conducted twice a year in June and December by a National Testing Agency (NTA) to determine the eligibility of candidates for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and/or Is held in. UGC NET 2023
UGC NET 2023 is a National Eligibility Entrance Test in India which is a qualifying examination for postgraduate candidates for admission to teaching in universities. It is organized half-yearly by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Application for UGC NET 2023 started on 20th July 2023 and the last date to apply is 31st October 2023 (extended). UGC NET 2023 Exam date is scheduled to be held from 6th to 22nd December 2023.
NTA UGC NET exam is conducted twice every year in June and December. A session of UGC NET 2023 (December 2023) will be conducted by the National Eligibility Authority (NTA) for the recruitment of Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellow (JRF).
UGC NET 2023 Notification
NTA has officially released the UGC NET 2023 notification. Candidates are allowed to apply for UGC NET Exam 2023 between 30 September 2023 and 31 October 2023. UGC NET 2023 Exam Pattern
UGC NET 2023 exam will be conducted as Computer Based Test (CBT) only. As per UGC NET syllabus and exam pattern, the exam will consist of two papers. Both the papers will consist of only objective type questions without any interruption. UGC NET exam is a two-paper exam consisting of 150 questions for a total of 300 marks. It is a general aptitude test, while Paper II is a subject-specific paper.
It is mandatory for the candidate to appear for both the papers. The UGC NET exam is conducted in two shifts, morning and afternoon, with each shift lasting 3 hours. Candidates can get more information about UGC NET 2023 Exam Pattern here:

UGC NET Paper 2023
Exam Mode: The entrance exam will be conducted in online CBT mode.
Number of Papers: There will be two papers for the examination – Paper-I and Paper-II.
Number of Questions: There will be a total of 150 questions in the exam paper. Paper I will consist of 50 questions and Paper-II will consist of 100 questions.
Types of questions: The question paper will consist of multiple choice type questions.
Language Medium: Question paper will be available in English and Hindi medium language.
Time Duration: Paper I will be of 1 hour duration while Paper II will be of 2 hours duration.
Total Marks: Paper I is going to be of 100 marks and Paper-II is going to be of 200 marks.
Marking Scheme: There will be 2 marks given for each correct answer and there will be no provision of negative marking for wrong answer.
Paper 1: General Aptitude Test
Paper 1 is a common paper for all candidates, irrespective of their subject specialisation. It consists of 50 multiple choice questions divided into 10 sections:

Paper 2: Subject Specialization
Paper 2 is subject-specific and the candidate has to choose the subject in which he has completed his post graduation. Paper 2 consists of 100 MCQs, covering the entire syllabus of the chosen subject. The UGC NET exam pattern is designed to assess the candidate’s teaching and research aptitude, comprehension, logical reasoning, data interpretation, ICT skills, people and environment, higher education system, general awareness and quantitative aptitude.
UGC NET 2023 Syllabus
NTA has released the UGC NET Syllabus 2023 exam along with its official notification. To prepare for the UGC NET 2023 exam, a candidate must first know its syllabus. As per the UGC NET 2023 syllabus, the subjects included in NET are more than 100. UGC NET Salary For Junior Research Fellowship
The UGC net salary for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) has been revised with effect from January 1, 2023.
First two years, Fellowship of Rs 31000/- plus HRA (depending on the institution)
For the next three years. The fellowship is Rs 35000/- plus HRA (depending on the institution).
UGC NET JRF Fellowship is awarded for a period of five years but can be extended for one more year if the JRF is able to meet the required performance criteria.
UGC NET 2023 Admit Card
National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the UGC NET 2023 admit card at ugcnet.nta.nic.in. All eligible candidates, who had enrolled for the UGC NET 2023 exam, can check the admit card details by clicking on the updated link here. In this, the candidates who have successfully registered for the examination can download their admit card by using their application number and date of birth.
Candidates have to follow these steps to download UGC NET 2023 admit card:
- NTA visit the official website of UGC NET: https://ugcnet.nta.nic.in/
- Click on “Download Admit Card” link.
- After this enter your application number and date of birth.
- Click on “Submit” button.
- Your admit card will be displayed on the screen.
- Now you can download your admit card and save it for future reference.
UGC NET 2023 Answer Key
NTA will soon display the answer key of the questions on NTA and it will be published through the official website. Candidates will be able to download the answer key through online mode. Answer Keys will be released in different sets for both Paper – I and II which will contain the correct answers to all the questions asked in the examination paper. If any candidate is not satisfied with the answers given in it then they can also challenge the answer key.
- Visit the official website of NTA UGC NET https://ugcnet.nta.nic.in.
- Click on the link “UGC NET Final Answer Key 2023” under “Candidate Activity” section.
- Select the subject wise answer key you want to download.
- Enter your UGC NET application number and password or date of birth.
- After this the candidates click on the “Login” button.
- The final answer key of UGC NET will be displayed on the screen.
- You can download and print the answer key for future reference.
UGC NET 2023 Result
The board will announce the result after the completion of the UGC NET 2023 examination and the release of the answer key. The results will be released after the examination is conducted. UGC-NET December 2023 was conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode for 83 subjects in 02 phases spread over 09 days in 18 shifts.
Students can check their result in online mode by submitting their roll number and date of birth. After the examination, candidates can download the UGC NET December 2023 scorecard.
UGC NET 2023 Scorecard
Scorecard will also be released after the release of UGC NET 2023 Result. UGC NET 2023 Scorecard mentions various important details about the candidate and the entrance exam. These details will include name of the candidate, course name, hall ticket number, total marks, marks obtained by the candidate in Paper I and II, rank score and percentage.
UGC NET 2023 Cut Off
UGC NET 2023 cut off will be published online by the authority after the entrance examination. The cutoffs will be different for each category, subject and paper. The cut off marks are determined based on the difficulty level of the exam, the number of candidates appearing in the exam and the number of seats available in the universities.
